Waiting for Blair at Blair's place. The pohutukawa have been nuts this year.

I turned down the too-small Tasman St place. Saw and applied for a really nice flat in Newtown, with a wee courtyard garden and everything, this morning, fingers crossed, but I don't think I have much of a chance. I also saw an odd place in Island Bay - a converted shop in the same block as the Empire Cinema. It was clean, painted bright white, dry and in good condition, and not too small - but the bedroom was in what was the shop window, right on the pavement on The Parade.
This is not quite as bad as it sounds, as the window was covered with that translucent stick on plastic that makes it look like ground glass, but still, I could not get thoughts of Amsterdam out of my head. Also, it was altogether too close to the Empire's gelato bar.
