This is my Christmas present from my Mum. It is awesome on many levels.
For a start, it's a very aesthetically pleasing and tactile object, turned from golden-red timber which is surprisingly light to pick up.
It's also useful. I didn't have one previously, and have been borrowing my flatmate's.
Third, and I think most awesome, the timber it's made of is swamp kauri. Swamp kauri is kauri that has fallen and been buried in peat swamps in the far north, and has been carbon-dated to some 45 thousand years old, which means that this wood was growing around about the time our ancestors were really starting to get the hang of both tools and art.
And that's cool.

ETA: Ah. Duh. Never mind, question answered Over There, and one would think I should recognise that, what with herself being such an avid cook/baker. ::sighs::
