In other news, I am actually pretty damn good at what I do for a living. The country (or even the Ministry) would probably not collapse without me, but I make a lot of peoples' jobs easier, and the results they get more useful. Don't get me wrong - I don't absolutely love my job, I didn't set out to pursue a career in the public service, and I wouldn't do it without the all important paycheck but there is a certain amount of satisfaction in days like this one. And I didn't even do maps today.

I like maps. Even if you didn't do any yesterday, or today, or oh bother this whole International Date Line business. *G*

And seriously? I often feel the same way about Nursing, and being a Registered Nurse. Including the paycheck part.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of my job is the use of GIS software for both data analysis and creating attractive and informative maps for display and publication. I get to use both sides of my brain at once (well actually I think they take turns) - it's very engaging and satisfying.
