I believe that that cloud in the back is an anvil cloud, which happens when a cumulonimbus hits the stratosphere. It's not a very good picture of one but I've never seen one from here before. It's probably associated with the wicked cold front that's been causing problems just north of here.

Yep, that's an anvil cloud. I used to see them in Texas and Oklahoma all the time. That's quite a storm front brewing up there.
