A Sparrow at Fidel's

Fidel's Café, Cuba St, Wellington. I can recommend the brioche, but the long blacks are on the short side. I have to remember to order hot water on the side.
(Their website is annoying.)

I like Fidel's. Who needs water with their caffeine anyway? Wish we had that style of cafe here... I haven't found a good place to go for breakfast yet!

When I order a long black I want a long black, not a short one. A short black is over far too quickly.
I thought there were a couple of kiwi-style cafes open in London now?

There's Flat White but they don't do much in the way of food. They do a good iced chocolate though!

So what is a 'long black' in this context? A large cup of black coffee?

Yep. I think this is a purely Kiwi thing.
Short black = a shot of espresso.
Long black = shot of espresso topped up with hot water. My usual preference.
Flat white = Cafe latte = 1 part espresso to 2 parts steamed milk, without excessive froth.
