Experiments with epoxy

I obtained some parts from a retiring horologist on Trademe and I've been meaning to try working with epoxy casting resin for a while. Here are a couple of the first attempts, fabric and bits mounted on pieces of mirror. It doesn't seem to be as difficult to work with as I was expecting, although it seems a bit soft. I hope that leaving it to cure for a while will let it get harder.
In other news, still no internet connection. Telecom's technician was out today, plugged in his modem and got a connection. Plugged in our modem, got no connection - so the problem's evidently with our modem right? The modem which just so happens to be still under warranty, so I take it back to the shop and get a replacement, which also fails to get a connection.
Tomorrow's course of action is some combination of
- Source a working modem and try it at our place
-Take our modem to somewhere that has working ADSL and try it there.
-Try not to get too homicidal about the whole mess.
Wish me luck, eh.
