Caustic before coffee

Aren't we all?

A caustic curve is the curve traced by the intersection of reflected or refracted rays of light, or the projection of those rays onto a flat surface.

These ones are distorted images of the sun thrown by my three-quarters-full electric jug, which is, approximately, a prolate glass spheroid standing on one end, while I waited blearily for it to boil this morning. In the bottom one, I have tapped the jug to cause ripples in the surface of the water.
